MANILA (UPDATED) -- Filipino basketball player John Amores can no longer suit up in the country's professional leagues, after his license was revoked by the Games and Amusement Board (GAB).

GAB confirmed to ABS-CBN News that Amores has been found guilty of "conduct unbecoming of a professional basketball player."

This is after the agency concluded its investigation into the NorthPort player after his involvement in a shooting incident in Lumban, Laguna in September. Amores was accused of firing his gun at another man after a basketball game; attempted homicide complaints were subsequently filed against him and his brother.

The Amores siblings are currently out on bail.

"The respondent’s license is revoked effective immediately," GAB said to conclude Case No. 109-4. The six-page decision was signed by chairman Francisco Rivera and commissioners Manuel Plaza III and Angel Bautista.

This means that Amores is "no longer allowed to participate in any professional basketball game sanctioned by the board," including the PBA.

In an e-mail to ABS-CBN News, GAB said it has provided the PBA, NorthPort, and Amores himself with copies of their decision.

The league had already suspended Amores for one conference without pay "for conduct detrimental to the league." He was also instructed by the PBA to address his "anger and violent tendencies."

It is the latest blow against the 25-year-old cager, who first made headlines in NCAA Season 98 when he ran amok during a game against College of St. Benilde -- a punching spree that resulted in his expulsion from the Jose Rizal University basketball program.

He also previously figured in an altercation against the University of the Philippines' Mark Belmonte during a preseason game in 2022.

Despite his track record, he was taken 51st overall by the NorthPort Batang Pier in the 2023 PBA Rookie Draft. Even after his suspension from the league, he still joined the Batang Pier in an outreach program in October for victims of severe tropical storm Kristine.
