Mark Demayo, ABS-CBN NewsMANILA — Kevin Quiambao has officially announced the next step of his basketball career.

The De La Salle University superstar himself shared on Monday that he would exit the Green Archers to start his pursuit of his NBA dream, just less than 24 hours after their loss in the UAAP Season 87 men’s basketball Finals.

“To the Lasallian Community, OSD, thank you for three wonderful seasons,” the two-time UAAP MVP penned in a social media post.

“A lot of sweat, tears, and sacrifices, Thank you for making me a great student-athlete. To my teammates, the whole coaching staff, and management, I can't thank you enough for your unwavering support. Thank you for believing in me and pushing me to reach my potential. I am so grateful and blessed to have you guys.”

“With that being said, My college career comes to an end. I will pursue my NBA dream and start my journey by playing professional ball with the Goyang Sono SkyGunners and developing my game even more,” he added.

Before this, Quiambao was mum on what his next move would be, but there were already signs that he was non-committal to the Taft-based cager’s campaign in Season 88.

”Babawi sila,” said the one-time UAAP champion after posting a quiet 13-point, four-rebound game in their 66-62 Game 3 loss against the University of the Philippines.

“I’m so proud of my team. Win or lose, the blame is on me. Ako may kasalanan ng lahat nang yun. I take ownership sa lahat ng ginawa ko, pero sobrang proud na nakarating kami ng Finals, decider Game 3,” said the 6-foot-6, do-it-all forward.

“It was a surreal feeling for me pati sa buong team. Pero yun nga, medyo kinapos, pero babawi sila, at mahal ko sila,” he added.

Quiambao will now be taking a step closer to his dream of becoming the first-ever homegrown hooper to play in the NBA by getting more exposure with a SkyGunners team squad that is in need of a huge talent boost.

Goyang Sono is currently 10th and last in the KBL standings with a 5-13 record, and the earliest that Quiambao is expected to join them is in the first week of January 2025.
