It will be Mapua vs St. Benilde in the NCAA Season 100 Finals. Angela Davocol, NCAA PhilippinesMANILA -- Mapua and College of St. Benilde are both trying to end a long title drought in the NCAA as they collide in the Season 100 Finals that starts Sunday at the Araneta Coliseum.

Game 1 is set for 2:00 p.m.

The Cardinals are seeking their first crown in 33 years, while the Blazers are also looking for their second NCAA title since their breakthrough championship 24 seasons ago.

Mapua is coming in with plenty of momentum, having won 10 straight games including a sweep of the second round. 

The Cardinals routed Lyceum of the Philippines University, 89-79, in the Final 4 last November 23 to advance to the finals for the third time in four years.

Reigning Most Valuable Player Clint Escamis will be a marked man, after he exploded for 33 points against the Pirates to power the Cardinals to victory.

"I just want to help the team win a championship," said the do-it-all guard.

St. Benilde, for its part, is also in high spirits after ending the reign of San Beda through a 79-63 rout in their own semis series.

Game 2 is set for Saturday while a deciding Game 3, if necessary, is scheduled for December 14 -- all at the Big Dome.
