MANILA — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. cheered on Filipina tennis star Alex Eala on Saturday, ahead of her high-stakes title clash at the Eastbourne Open. The 20-year old Eala is set to duel with world no. 51 Maya Joint of Australia, after the Filipina triumphed in the semi finals against Russian and world No. 53 Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova. “Can’t wait to watch Aled Eala make history in the Philippines’ first-ever WTA Finals,” Marcos Jr. said in his social media account.<div> <a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/sports/othersports/2025/6/27/-i-m-super-super-happy-alex-eala-on-cloud-nine-after-reaching-first-ever-wta-tour-final-2133">&#x27;I&#x27;m super, super happy&#x27;: Alex Eala on cloud nine after reaching first-ever WTA Tour final</a></div> “We’re already so proud, Alex.
