Andrew Wolff then scored the winning goal to give white the win 6-5.

“The fire’s still burning,” said Wolff. “As an athlete you really get into it.”

“It’s always nice but it was a team effort,” he said. “I’m just lucky to be in the right place at the right time but really all the thanks go to those guys.”

The match was intense and action-packed both teams fighting back until the last second.

The fun scrimmage was a way for the Azkals to come together to kick off the 7’s football season.

“What we wanna do is spread awareness on football, especially 7’s. We’re kicking off our super league on February 16,” Anton said.

“We’re trying to be like the MPBL of football. We have ten teams across the NCR,” he added.

Borromeo expressed how exciting 7’s matches can get and what he likes about it.

“It’s exciting, fast-paced, there’s no break. It’s end to end action and the scoreline is usually big,” he said.

“It’s not like normal 90 minutes (of football),” Borromeo added.

Custodio said 7’s add a “modern twist” to football.

“It makes it a bit more fun, especially for the kids. It encourages you to just keep going.”

The 7’s Football League is set to begin February 16, 2025.
