MANILA -- Multi-titled Filipino racer Iñigo Anton delivered a masterclass in the F4 Australian Championship as he clinched back-to-back P1 placements in the rookie class during round 4 in Sepang, Malaysia on September 7 to 8, 2024.

This was only his second time to compete in Formula 4 following his F4 South East Asia Championship last-round participation in 2023.

The first of three races at the Sepang International Circuit saw Anton struggling to find his rhythm in the first few laps to drop to P8 from his P6 classification.

Equipped with his training from former F1 driver Alex Yoong, Anton recovered and pulled off an overtake on Jam Motorsport's Sebastien Amadio to get P7.

He finished 7th overall in the 10-pilot grid, and was ahead of two other rookies Seth Gilmore and Imogen Radburn. Tiago Rodrigues of  Evans GP won this race.

Anton, reunited with the BlackArts Racing team, exuded more confidence on the track in the second race where he put up constant pressure to Nicolas Stati, second in the running for the championship, to challenge for the P4 position.

Hot on his target's wheels, Anton was given a warning for exceeding track limits twice.

A window to overtake presented itself when AGI Sport's Stati went wide on the first hairpin, but his quick recovery held off Anton from gaining a place.

Crossing the chequered flag, Anton was able to convert his P7 qualification to P5 overall and was once again the fastest among the rookies. Evans GP's Cooper Webster dominated this race.

After two races of ruling the rookie class, Anton suffered an early retirement in the first lap of the third race after a contact with Amadio.

Kai Daryanani of Evans GP was the last race winner of the weekend.

James Piszcyk of AGI Sport, who claimed victory in the first nine races of the season, was announced as this year's Australian F4 champion.

Anton took home a total of 16 total points in the final round of the Australian championship.

"Overall it was an amazing and unforgettable weekend. Thank you everyone for supporting me throughout my whole racing career. It's because of all of you I'm able to live out my dreams and continue what I love doing. I'm so blessed," he wrote in an Instagram post.
