MANILA — De La Salle University won its third straight game in the UAAP Season 87 men's basketball tournament by thrashing rivals Ateneo de Manila University on Sunday.

Doing damage for the Green Archers was superstar Kevin Quiambao who had a near triple-double of 13 points, 13 rebounds, and seven assists, while helping him was the ever-steady Mike Phillips who scored the same amount on top of 14 rebounds.

But despite the victory, DLSU head coach Topex Robinson maintained that there is still a lot to work on for the defending UAAP hoops champions.

"We always tell each other that all teams are gonna give us a fight, they're always gonna bring out their best against us," said Robinson.

"We also always remind ourselves that we don't have control of what other teams will do, but we have control of what we're gonna do. That's what we're just gonna focus on. We made a lot of mistakes which doesn't make us a strong team, but all those mistakes will just get us better," he added.

La Salle improved to 3-0 in Season 87, while dropping Ateneo to 0-3 -- extending its worst start under Tab Baldwin.
