The Olympic rings were installed on Lena Bridge facing the Eiffel Tower on Saturday (September 14), a temporary display to remember the Summer Games in Paris.

The display was presented by Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo and International Olympic Committee President Thomas Bach.

Paris city officials are planning to recreate the five rings that are currently on the Eiffel Tower into a lighter structure but with the same dimensions, for a display that will stay until 2028, local media reported.

Hidalgo wished to keep the rings on the Eiffel Tower, but drew criticism from heritage conservationists.

Paris hosted the Olympics from July 26 to August 11, bringing in thousands of athletes and 12 million spectators.
