A major windfall awaits Filipino gymnast Carlos Yulo after his historic feat of winning 2 gold medals in the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Mayor Abraham Bambol Tolentino, Philippine Olympic Committee president, said Yulo is set to receive P10 million per gold medal for a total of P20 million, aside from other cash incentives given by Malacanang.

He added Yulo will also receive a house and lot in Tagaytay.

He said it is unlikely that Yulo will retire after his twin victories. “Kaya pa…malamang hindi pa titigil yan dahil bata pa,” Tolentino said, adding Yulo will be 28 years old in the next Olympics.

Meanwhile, the Philippines’ House of Representatives said it will also give P6 million to Yulo, or P3 million per gold medal.

Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna said the city will also give P1 million in cash incentive or P500,000 per gold medal to Yulo.

The City of Manila is also preparing a grand homecoming parade for the Filipino athlete.

“Inaayos na ang ruta. It’s either magsisimula sa San Andres Complex, malapit yan sa Aurora Elem. School o kaya sa Leveriza kung saan siya nakatira. Magtatapos sa City Hall o sa San Andres Complex,” she said in a TeleRadyo Serbisyo interview.

The local government is also eyeing declaring August 4 as Carlos Yulo Day.

Bounty Fresh Group Holdings Inc. and Chooks-to-Go is also giving Yulo a reward of P3 million “for his outstanding achievement in winning two gold medals at the Olympic Games Paris 2024, making him the most decorated Filipino Olympian of all time.”

“Yulo brought pride to the Philippines by securing two gold medals in France, triumphing in the men’s gymnastics floor exercise with a remarkable score of 15.0 and the vault event with an impressive 15.166.

His performance on the world stage has captured the hearts of millions, demonstrating the resilience and competitive spirit of Filipino athletes,” the company said.
