MANILA -- The grandfather of double Olympic gold medalist Carlos Yulo is looking forward to seeing his grandson during the Heroes' Grand Homecoming Parade on Wednesday.

"Siguro mga one hour or two hours before, nandodoon na ako or kaming lahat. Kung saan mas malapit siguro doon nalang kami. Pero kung hindi naman mabilis yung motorcade, maari kaming sumunod hanggang hindi kami pagod," Rodrigo Frisco told ABS-CBN News on Tuesday.

(Maybe one or two hours before [the parade] I will be there, we will all be there. Wherever is nearer [to our house] then that's where we will watch. But if the motorcade is not so fast, we may follow it until we aren't tired.)

Yulo's grandfather said he will be watching the parade with his family, neighbors and whoever else wants to go.

"Bahala na bukas kasi alam ko maraming magsisisama. Lahat ng gusto sumama eh 'di isasama ko. Lahat yan mga kapitbahay namin sasama yan," he said.

(I'll decide tomorrow where we will stay and who I will be with, but I know a lot of people will join me. Everyone who wants to come with me may do so. Most if not all of our neighbors would want to go.)

Frisco said he is excited to see his grandson, whom he hasn't seen in so long.

"Oo excited talaga. Excited pa sa excited dahil hindi na namin, matagal na namin siyang hindi nakita eh." he added.

(Yes I'm very excited. Excited than excited because we don't see him [Carlos], it's been awhile since we last saw him.)

Frisco, the one who brought Yulo to train at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex, said he is proud of his grandson's historic achievement.

"Sobrang proud naman kasi napakahirap ng naachieve niya. Talagang jusko lalaking bansa ang kinalaban. Hindi ko akalain isang maliit na bansa ang makakatalo sa kanila. Yun sobrang proud para kaming hindi nakatungtong sa lupa," he shared.

(I'm very proud of him because what he achieved was very diffcult. He was up against big nations. Who would've thought that someone from a small country can beat them all? I'm very proud, it feels like I'm floating.)

Yulo's grandfather also shared advice to Carlos, who is set to receive millions in cash incentives and other rewards from the government and private sector.

"Manatali kang simple person. At saka lagi kang magdadasal at magpapasalamat sa itaas," he said.

Yulo and his fellow Filipino Olympians are returning to the country from Paris this evening. They will be met by their families at the Villamor Airbase before meeting President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. in Malacañang.

The President will personally hand over cash incentives and honors to the Olympians.

The Philippines concluded its Paris Olympics campaign with four medals – two gold from Yulo in men's artistic gymnastics and one bronze each from boxers Nesthy Petecio and Aira Villegas.
