KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (UPDATED) -- Honor of Kings on Sunday shared its esports roadmap for the rest of the year, which includes plans for its Filipino esports players during a press conference held here.

Aside from the Esports World Cup later this year, Honor of Kings will also open another international invitational and a Southeast Asian major championship as it further expands its audience outside China.

The Tencent-owned game officially opened its servers to the Philippines last June 20, allowing the game to be played in 160 countries -- including the Philippines -- after being exclusively available to China for almost a decade.

Tencent also revealed a "long-term" commitment to supporting several teams in Southeast Asia, which includes the Philippines. Blacklist International, BOOM Esports, Smart Omega, and Execration will receive added support from the tech giant to establish their rosters and develop their players.

"We all know that the Philippine teams are good in most of the Esports games, so I have no [reason] to [doubt] I believe that the Philippines is exhibiting a good performance and whether or not they become the strongest, I hope so," said James Yang, Esports Director at Tencent.

Yang said Honor of Kings became the top downloaded game as soon as it launched in the App Store and on Google Play in Southeast Asia.

Particularly, Blacklist International's HOK team houses its former Wild Rift players after the WRL-Asia tournament dissolved early this year.

After their early elimination from the HOK Invitational Season 2 here, BOOM Esports will still have a chance to qualify to the Esports World Cup in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Yang also revealed that BOOM Esports will go up against Indonesia's RRQ for a SEA showdown, where the winner will get a SEA representative slot to the EWC tournament.

"They will go through this showdown to have a chance to join this tournament," Yang told reporters at a press conference, Sunday.

The KIS playoff teams automatically secured slots to EWC, where a $3 million prize pool is at stake.

Meanwhile, LGD Gaming emerged as the champions in the game's largest Esports World Cup qualifier, besting fellow Malaysian club Team Secret for the title.

Team Secret houses Pinoy former Wild Rift Eleazar "Azar" Salle. However, he did not receive any playing time over the course of the tournament.
