MANILA — De La Salle University products Mark Nonoy and Jonnel Policarpio were among those who impressed during Day 1 of the 2024 PBA Rookie Draft Combine on Wednesday at the Ynares Sports Arena.

The 5-foot-9 Nonoy recorded the highest running vertical jump among all hopefuls as he posted 53 inches, while his standing vertical jump of 39 inches was also among the highest.

The former guard of the University of Santo Tomas (UST) also ranked first in the sprint skill test with 2.862 ticks, and he also tallied 438 milliseconds in reaction time.

Meanwhile, Policarpio, who was listed at 6'4.875 without shoes, had a running vertical jump of 44 inches, standing vertical jump of 38 inches, reaction time of 418 milliseconds, and 3.131 in the sprint test.

He also displayed his prowess in one of the scrimmages and finished with 24 points when he went up against fellow former Green Archer and projected top pick Justine Baltazar.

Mike Malonzo, Brandon Ramirez, and DJ Mitchell also stood out in the combine.

Malonzo, the former National University forward who stands at 6-foot-2, topped the standing vertical jump as he registered 43 inches, while the 5-foot-11, former La Salle guard Mitchell posted the fastest clocked the fastest in the lane agility test at 11.49.

On the other hand, the 6-foot-4, former PBA 3x3 big man Ramirez was the fastest in the reaction time test with 358 milliseconds.

Among the notable names who were absent from the combine were RJ Abarrientos, Sedrick Barefield, Dave Ildefonso, and Evan Nelle.

Abarrientos and Ildefonso are with Strong Group Athletics as they prepare for the 43rd William Jones Cup which starts later this week, while Barefield and Nelle are still in the United States.

Also with SGA is Caelan Tiongson, but the Filipino-American briefly attended the proceedings and got his measurements. However, he did not compete in the scrimmages.

His listed height was 6-foot-5.
