Jong Uichico 'has clear idea of what it takes to win a championship,' says NLEX GM

MANILA — A new face is set to lead the NLEX Road Warriors as they continue to seek their first championship in the PBA.

This, after the squad tapped veteran tactician Jong Uichico as their newest head coach, the team announced Friday afternoon.

A nine-time PBA champion mentor, the former TNT, San Miguel, and Barangay Ginebra coach is seen by the Road Warriors management as one who can help them reach their goals of clinching their first title in the league.

"The NLEX Road Warriors are excited to take this new journey with coach Jong Uichico,” said NLEX Corporation president and general manager Luigi Bautista of the two-time PBA Coach of the Year.

“He brings a wealth of experience to the squad and a clear idea of what it takes to win a championship as the fourth-winningest coach in PBA history,” he added of Uichico who was already part of outgoing head coach Frankie Lim’s staff before this move.

“We also thank coach Jong Uichico for taking on this new challenge to lead the Road Warriors as we start our preparations for the upcoming PBA season,” said NLEX governor Ronald Dulatre.

Meanwhile, NLEX also expressed its gratitude for Lim who made his PBA coaching return with them in 2022.

“We are grateful to coach Frankie Lim for his dedication to the Road Warriors and we thank him for his contributions,” expressed Dulatre.
