‘Soar high with the real angels in heaven’: Former Petro Gazz Angel Janisa Johnson passes away

After a battle with colon cancer, former Premier Volleyball League (PVL) reinforcement Janisa Johnson has passed away. She was 32.


The American player’s demise was posted on her social media account earlier Tuesday.



Johnson, a PVL champion who played for the Petro Gazz Angels in the 2019 Reinforced Conference, was diagnosed with the disease in 2021.


Her former team where she also won a Finals MVP also penned their message in an Instagram post.


“With heavy hearts, we extend our deepest condolences to the bereaved family of Janisa Johnson, our Finals MVP in the 2019 Reinforced Conference, who passed away after a courageous fight against cancer,” it read.



“Soar high with the real angels in heaven. Rest in peace, Janisa.”


Johnson also played for Bali Pure during the 2018 Reinforced Conference, suiting up alongside the likes of present National University stars Bella Belen and Alyssa Solomon.
