“Even this third place, this is huge for us. It is big. It’s a place for us to grow so we gotta go in steps,” said Chambers after their podium finish.
Also impressive for FEU was incoming rookie Veejay Pre who tallied a 13-point, 10-rebound game alongside five dimes. Mohamed Konateh posted 11 points as well as 21 rebounds and five assists.
Facing a 67-62 deficit to start the final canto after they saw their 17-point advantage disappear, Bautista caught fire for the Morayta-based hoopers and spearheaded a 10-3 spurt which was built on three-pointers and lay-ins from him.

The Tams then only held on to a 75-73 lead as the clock winded down and reached the final minute, in turn, giving a slight opportunity for Letran to close in yet again on their UAAP counterparts, but Bautista hit a three-point dagger with only 43 ticks left to break the hearts of the Letranites.
Deo Cuajao fired a triple to get the Muralla boys to within a possession, 79-76, with still 30 seconds left in the clock, but that was the last clean look that they could get as they eventually absorbed their second consecutive loss after going on an impressive eight-game win streak.
Also playing a factor in their win was FEU’s massive 56-30 advantage in the rebounding department, and this allowed them to escape with the win despite having 26 turnovers to Letran’s 12.
On the other hand, the Knights were spearheaded by Cuajao’s 27 points, 21 of which came from beyond the three-point line, five rebounds, and three dimes, while Titing Manalili paced CSJL with 15 markers, seven dimes, and two boards.
Another promising rookie also stood out for Letran as Charles Dimaano, who previously played with De La Salle-Zobel, put up 10 markers, two dimes, and two boards.
