MANILA – Nothing might beat the happiness of a sportsperson reaching the final round, more so if you did it twice.

This was the sentiment of multi-titled volleyball coach Dante Alinsunurin, who will be entering not just the final round of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) men's volleyball tournament, but also the championship match of the 2024 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference.

Alinsunurin's Choco Mucho Flying Titans swept the semifinal round of the ongoing All-Filipino tilt, and his collegiate squad NU Bulldogs, who had a twice-to-beat bonus, fended off the De La Salle Green Spikers in four sets in their Final Four clash on Wednesday at the Araneta Coliseum.

"Unang-una, sa volleyball ngayon ako yung pinakamasayang tao [kasi] nakuha ko 'yung finals ngayon sa PVL tsaka sa UAAP," Alinsunurin said after his team eliminated La Salle, 25-23, 22-25, 25-22, 25-21.

"Basta, trabaho lang. Importante lang makatulong ako sa players and management. Kung ano man 'yung gusto kong gawin sa team, and kung ano man 'yung gusto kong matulong gagawin ko para maging successful yung school or yung [club] namin," he went on.

However, he's in two different situations – Choco Mucho is gunning for its first championship, while National University is trying to defend its crown to go for a four-peat.

The decorated mentor is just thankful for the chance that he could nab multiple titles, while acknowledging the hardships they went through to reach the Season 86 Finals.

"This season, talagang 'di naging madali 'yung patungo sa Finals," said Alinsunurin.

"Pero siyempre credit talaga sa players ko and sa coaching staff na talagang sumusuporta namin all through out the season kaya sinasabi namin sa kanila na kailangan kung ano man 'yung gusto naming ma-achieve ngayong season. Nagpapasalamat kami na ngayon nakatungtong na kami sa Finals," Alinsunurin added.
