Filipino athletes graduate as part of Penn State's class of 2024

Two Filipino athletes recently graduated as part of The Pennsylvania State University's Class of 2024.

Miko Eala, the elder brother of tennis star Alex, graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance. 

He attended Penn State on a tennis scholarship and played for the university in the NCAA. An international age grouper who was ranked in the top 100 of the ITF junior world rankings, Eala earned All Big Team First Team honors in 2024.

He also received the Big Ten Men's Tennis Sportsmanship honor. 

Present during the graduation ceremonies were Eala's parents, Mike and Rizza, and sister Alex.

Also graduating was fencer Sam Catantan, who recently qualified for the Paris Olympics 2024.

Catantan was the captain of the Penn State women's fencing team for the 2023-24 season. She completed a degree in accounting.
