Kai Sotto’s time with the Yokohama B-Corsairs has come to an end.

This, after the Japan B.League squad said that it has parted ways with the 7-foot-3 Filipino star, as announced on its Instagram account on Wednesday.

“We would like to inform you that the limited transfer period of Kai Sotto, who joined from Hiroshima Dragonflies with a limited time transfer, has expired,”  Yokohama said.

But now that his time with the B-Corsairs has ended, what’s next for Kaiju?

”He’s actually, I think right now, in an NBA camp,” said Gilas Pilipinas head coach Tim Cone in an  interview with the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas last May 13.

“He’s going to the States, doing some NBA things, and he’ll be back on the 16th or 17 of June to join us on the 21st,” Cone continued.

The nationals will be returning to practice on June 21 as they start their next set of preparations for the 2024 FIBA Olympic qualifying tournament, and Cone said that they are expecting a lot from Sotto, especially with the level of play that he is on today.

”When I watch Kai practice, and when I watch him play, he’s just absolutely dominant,” said the Barangay Ginebra mentor.

“There’s so little he cannot do. He does lack a little bit of strength in terms of fighting for position, but I think that’s gonna come with age. He is going to be the main guy, one of the main guys, if not, the main guy on our team, and that’s going to grow him. He’s gonna evolve and get better.”

“He’s only 21 years old, he’s not even developed in his body yet. The sky is the limit,” Cone added.
