A Filipino-American is making his case for a shot at the NBA.

University of Southern California alum Boogie Ellis recently showed off his skills at the NBA’s G League Elite Camp, and eventually earned an invite to the draft combine in Chicago.

"I thank God and I appreciate it," said the 23-year-old guard. "My family is the reason why I’m here today and I thank them as well."

Since arriving at the draft combine, the Fil-Am guard has been putting on a shooting display to help his teams win.

Standing at just under 6'1, Ellis also impressed in the vertical jump. He finished in the Top 10 at just 39.5 inches.

"I felt like I did well coming off the bench," he said, "leading the team talking, being a great teammate having good energy. Overall, we just came out with a win."

Last year, as a 5th year senior, Ellis averaged 16.5 points per game for the USC Trojans on 42.7 percent field goal shooting.

The San Diego native began his college career with two years at Memphis, where he won an NIT championship and the ACC's 'Sixth Man of the Year' in 2021.

He then transferred closer to home, and spent three years at USC. This is where he earned his first Team All-Pac12 honors in 2023, and a second team honors earlier this year.

The NBA draft combine which NBA teams use to scout talents will last through the end of this week.

The NBA draft then takes place in June.
