MANILA (UPDATED) - The undefeated kings claim the throne that's theirs.

RRQ Kaito on Saturday night bagged their first Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Development League title after a nail-biting 3-2 win over ECHO Proud.

RRQ Kaito snapped the two-season streak of ECHO Proud, as the MPL's academy league operated its playoffs onsite at the Shooting Gallery Studios in Makati City.

With ECHO at match point in Game 4, RRQ’s Cymond “CY” Torres (Natan) put up a Hail Mary play and single-handedly defended their crumbling base to force a counter-push more than 20 minutes into the series.

Riding on the momentum-swinging game in Game 4, ECHO went ahead to win the rubber match.

RRQ’s roamer Denniel Denison “xNova” Gomez bagged the finals MVP award.

RRQ Kaito went undefeated in the regular season, with a 9-0 record.

They later translated the perfect record right until the Grand Finals.

Meanwhile, ECHO Proud went with an almost entirely new group this season as its standouts moved out to the professional leagues.

Blacklist Rough World Era and Omega Neos sit on the 3rd to 4th place podium.

TNC Z4, who played sans Jiee, and ONIC Arsenals placed 5th to 6th place. Jiee's contract with the team was terminated after accusations of match-fixing surfaced.

RRQ Kaito is one of the two teams not backed by a Filipino franchise league in the MDL, the other one being GameLab. RRQ Kaito is the Indonesian organization’s first venture into MLBB in the Philippines.
