MANILA -- Jia De Guzman will be playing for the national team in the upcoming AVC Challenge Cup.

The decorated setter, who helped Denso Airybees win the Japan V.League Division 1 Women V.Cup, revealed the development to reporters Sunday at the Big Dome before her PVL club Creamline takes on Choco Mucho in Game 2 of the 2024 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference Finals.

The eight-time PVL best setter expressed her readiness to play for the Philippines despite very short preparation.

"Ah yes, I'm going to play in the upcoming AVC Challenge Cup. I know, very little preparation but we're going give do our best despite that," Morado-De Guzman said.

"And all the time naman, ready to step up for the flag kami. So excited ako to play for the Philippines again," she went on.

The former Ateneo standout last played for the national team in the 2023 SEA Games.

De Guzman will be a huge boost for the Nationals -- but a final roster has yet to be announced as of writing.

PVL President Ricky Palou -- with PVL now tasked by PNVF to select and handle the national team -- said they'd coordinate with head coach Brazilian Jorge Edson de Brito on a 20-player pool who would represent the Philippines in the tourney.
