MANILA -- University of Santo Tomas opened its back-to-back title bid on a high note as Khy Progella and Cameron Grace Villaluz topped De La Salle-Zobel's Aislinn Alemaña and Katrina Tria, 21-9, 21-12, Saturday in the UAAP Season 86 High School Girls' Beach Volleyball Tournament at the Sands SM By The Bay.

Far Eastern University-Diliman took the early lead as Frenchie Premaylon and Love Lopez made quick work of UP Integrated School's Khloe Long and Janella Guarino, 21-11, 21-12, for a 2-0 card.

National University Nazareth School entered the win column as Vilmarie Toos and Laiza Benigay overpowered Ateneo's Ten Quimpo and Reggie Sanchez, 21-3, 21-10.

The Bullpups are tied with the Junior Lady Spikers at 1-1.

The Blue Eagles and the Junior Maroons dropped to 0-2.

In the boys' division, defending champion FEU-Diliman and NUNS lead the standings with similar 2-0 slates.

The Baby Tamaraws' Kyle Tandoc and Amet Bituin overpowered University of the East's Jan Macam and Xyrone Montemayor, 21-19, 21-13.

Not to be outdone are the Bullpups pair of John Wayne Dionela and Rain Skyler Gemarino, who overwhelmed Ateneo's Mon Paquito Berdos and Santiago Andres Avila, 21-5, 21-7.

UST barged into the win column as John Lagaran and Lance Malinao routed De La Salle-Zobel's Mario Roxas and Christopher Pallega, 21-10, 21-10.

Adamson's Tommy Castrodes and Brandy Clemente logged a convincing 21-10, 21-3 win over UPIS' Juan Miguel Navarro and Japeth Ben Casabar.

The Junior Tiger Sands and the Baby Falcons forced a four-way tie at 1-1 along with the Junior Warriors and the Blue Eagles.

The Junior Maroons and the Junior Green Spikers remained winless after two matches.
