MANILA — The University of the Philippines fielded a new face during their third assignment in PinoyLiga Cup Collegiate Cup Season 3.

The Fighting Maroons competed against Our Lady of Fatima University on Sunday with the high-flying guard Andy Gemao who played for the Diliman-based squad for the first time.

Gemao played for 13:33 minutes in the Maroons’ 65-57 win over Phoenix at the Enderun College Gym in Taguig, and the former Letran Squires star logged in four points as well as two steals.

The 6-foot-1 Gemao, who averaged 15.7 points, 5.7 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 3.0 steals for Fil-Am Nation Select in their 2024 National Basketball Training Center (NBTC) Division 1 championship campaign, previously told ABS-CBN News that he will be making his decision during the summer after he takes some time off for the meantime.

“Lay low muna ako,” he said last March 25. “Sa summer ko iwe-weigh ko yung options ko. Babalik ako sa US sa July,” Gemao added.

Meanwhile, UP sits at 2-0 in the preseason tournament.

The undermanned Maroons previously defeated the San Sebastian-Recoletos Golden Stags, 92-69, and the San Beda Red Lions, 88-46.
