(UPDATED) Filipino mixed martial artist Joshua Pacio is once again the ONE Strawweight MMA World Champion, though his victory came in an unusual way.

Pacio was declared the winner of his rematch against erstwhile title-holder Jarred Brooks at ONE 166: Qatar on Friday night at the Lusail Sports Arena.

"The Monkey God" was disqualified from the match after he illegally slammed Pacio on his head, barely a minute into the showdown.

The outspoken American had already climbed the cage in celebration as referee Herb Dean waved off the fight following his takedown of Pacio, which he compounded with head strikes just 56 seconds into their rematch.

But Dean put a stop to the party as he noted Brooks' infraction. The defending champion had spiked Pacio's head into the mat -- a violation of global MMA rules.

Pacio was awarded with the victory, but medics were quick to take him to a local medical facility with updates coming from Qatar stating that the Filipino striker is conscious.

In an Instagram post, Eduard Folayang also assured their supporters that "all is clear" for Pacio after the bout.

"He will be discharged [from] the hospital tonight," said Folayang, who posted a photo of Pacio in the hospital surrounded by their team. "Thank you for all the prayers and support of everyone. Praise God who protected him."

Meanwhile, Jeremy "The Jaguar" Miado also suffered a debilitating first round submission defeat to Keito "Pocket Monk" Yamakita earlier in the night.

The T-Rex MMA standout found himself in trouble and had no choice but to submit to the bulldog choke at the 4:04 mark of round one.

It was a tough defeat for Miado who bowed to his third straight defeat after stringing four consecutive victories.
