MANILA — San Miguel Beermen rookie Kyt Jimenez continues to live his lifelong dream of playing in the PBA.

Jimenez, the 76th pick in the 2024 Rookie Draft, finally got to step foot in the league's grandest stage in Game 2 of the Beermen's Commissioner's Cup Finals series against the Magnolia Hotshots.

With San Miguel well in control of the contest, coach Jorge Gallent game Jimenez some playing time in the closing stages.

“Sobrang sarap sa feeling,” said the 5-foot-11, fan-favorite guard who previously made a name for himself with ‘Mav’s Phenomenal Basketball’ group.

“First time yan, then yun nga, pinaka mataas na liga sa Pilipinas, hindi ko inexpect, hindi ko akalain na makakapg Finals agad ako.”

Asked if he already had the chance to process his experiences so far in the 48-year-old league, here is what he had to say:

“Hindi pa rin [nagsi-sink] eh. Kaya ako, pinagbubutihan ko pa lalo hanggang sa practice.”

Jimenez tied his scoring output during his debut game in the PBA last November 19 against the Meralco Bolts, with the former Perpetual Alta tallying two points.

His playing time came last night when SMB was already up huge against the Hotshots, with Jimenez checking in at the 3:32 mark of the fourth when they were ahead 21, 100-79.

That is why he deflected all the credit to his kuyas and his teammates under head coach Jorge Gallent.

“Pero siyempre, dahil [‘yon] sa mga teammates ko, solid talaga,” said Kyt.

“Alam ko, wala akong naaambag talaga sa loob ng court ng team namin, he humbly added, while also saying that the opposite happens during their practices.

“Pero sa practices, alam ko yung contribution ko,” he continued. “Pero dadating naman yung time na yon, na magkakaron ako ng minuto.”

Now that they are up 2-0, he said that they will even furthermore turn their efforts up so that they will not waste their momentum.

“Hindi natin masabi, pwedeng bumaliktad, kaya focus lang kami.”

“Every game namin, ‘di namin iniisip yung panalo namin eh. Kumbaga, dun kami sa next step, focus kami sa next game, then wag maging komportable o masaya,” he concluded.
