MANILA — The San Miguel Beermen are two wins away from securing the PBA Commissioner’s Cup championship.

Much like in Game 1, SMB dominated the Magnolia Chicken Timplados Hotshots, 109-85, in Game 2 of the Finals, Sunday at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

Bennie Boatwright balled out with 34 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists to lead all players in scoring.

Unlike in the series opener, however, San Miguel never took their foot off the gas until the final buzzer sounded.

Already holding a 54-41 lead after the first 24 minutes of action, the Beermen went on a 16-3 run to open the third which was capped off by a CJ Perez lay-in at the 6:01 mark of the same frame.

This led to SMB leading by as much as 26, 70-44, the largest margin so far in this series.

An alley-oop play from Paul Lee to Tyler Bey and another basket from the latter got Magnolia to as close as 17, 86-89, with still 7:42 left in the contest, but two triples from June Mar Fajardo in the final two minutes of action extended the lead back to 25, 108-83.

The third game of the series will be on Wednesday, February 7, 7:30 PM, at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.
