MANILA (UPDATED) - Onic Philippines on Wednesday confirmed it acquired Grant Duane "Kelra" Pillas, as the team underwent a massive revamp of coaches and players and acquired a number of key figures from Smart Omega.
The squad announced this as they revealed their roster for MPL Season 13, expected to be held in March.
Joining Kelra is MPL Philippines veteran Patrick "E2MAX" Caidic who, after playing last year will be returning to a coaching role in his new team. Kelra and E2MAX's head coach in Smart Omega, Tony "Ynot" Senedrin will also be making his coaching comeback for the Hedgehogs.
Breakout jungler King Cyric "K1ngKong" Perez, who transferred from TNC Pro Team, will also join the revamped Onic squad. K1ngKong will be replacing another formidable jungler in Dean "Raizen" Sumagui who was released by Onic after just one season.

Holdovers Frince "Super Frince" Ramirez will play as the midlaner, while Jomarie "Escalera" Delos Santos will be the team roamer, and Jem "Jem" Lanojan will remain in the EXP Lane.
Both Kelra and E2MAX were among the standouts of MSC 2021 champions and MPL Philippines runners-up Execration. The entire Execration squad transferred to Smart Omega when MPL Philippines shifted to a franchise league that year.
Through E2MAX's leadership with Omega, the "Barangay" remained in the top 3 of MPL Philippines during its prime, placing 3rd in MPL Season 8 and getting a bridesmaid finish in MPL Season 9.
After that, Omega has struggled to break into the top 3 of MPL Philippines, let alone advance in the next round of the playoffs.
Meanwhile, Onic Philippines are working through a resurgence, after unsuccessful attempts to finish high since Season 8 of the MPL and becoming M3 World Championship finalists.
