MANILA, Philippines – Cebuano RR Pogoy delivered the big shots in TNT's Game 6 triumph over Barangay Ginebra, helping the Tropang Giga clinch their 10th franchise title on Friday at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.

Pogoy fired the killing blow which put the Gin Kings to sleep, extending the TNT cushion to nine, 94-85,with 53 seconds left.

"Sabi ko talaga na 'pag pinasahan ako sa three points, ititira ko talaga," Pogoy said. "Buo talaga 'yung loob ko, ititira ko talaga 'yung three points."

Before that conversion, he also had a couple of those during the final quarter, listing nine of his 13 points.

And his motivation for those threes? Winning a PBA title at the Big Dome.

"Nasa isip ko talaga na sana mag-champion ako sa Araneta. Kasi nung unang champion ako, sa bubble. Sabi ko sana mag-champion ako sa Araneta na nakakalaro ako. Tapos 'yon, nakaka-shoot pa ako ng mga dagger threes," Pogoy shared happily.

"Nung pumasok 'yung mga three points ko, parang nasa alapaap na ako, eh. Sobrang sarap sa pakiramdam talaga."

Pogoy, now a three-time PBA champion, said it was "kuya" Jayson Castro and coach Chot Reyes who told him to be more aggressive with the ball—and it paid off.

"Nung unang quarter, wala akong points o ano. Talagang sinasabihan ako lalo na ni coach Chot at kuya Jayson na mag-aggressive ka," he said.

Aside from contributing from beyond the arc, the 32-year-old Ka-Tropa said coming into the championship bout, it was his motivation to etch himself as a defensive specialist.

"Sa sarili ko, gusto kong i-establish talaga sa pangalan ko na two-way player ako," he also said.

He was one of the TNT players who defended Justin Brownlee throughout the best-of-seven series.

In Game 6, Brownlee was held to only 16 points compared to Best Import awardee Rondae Hollis-Jefferson who dropped a game-high 31 points.
