UAAP MediaMANILA -- Camille Clarin nailed a clutch three-pointer to complete National University's 64-59 comeback against the University of the Philippines in the UAAP Season 87 women's basketball tournament, Sunday night at the UST Quadricentennial Pavilion.

Clarin came alive in the final quarter, scoring 13 points including the three-pointer with 45.2 seconds that clinched their victory.

"It was a timely hit by CC late in the fourth. Credit to her because  she made four three-point shots in the game so yung first seven attempts niya sablay. Hindi nawala yung concentration niya, hindi nawala yung confidence niya to hoist up a shot when it matters the most," said NU coach Aris Dimaunahan.

The veteran guard finished with 16 points, five assists, and four rebounds.

She teamed up with Maymay Canuto, Tin Cayabyab, Angel Surada, and Jainaba Konateh in a 16-2 scoring blitz that gave NU a 60-50 lead with 5:41 to play, as the Lady Bulldogs erased a four-point deficit at the start of the final quarter.

The Fighting Maroons did not fold, however. Kaye Pesquera sparked a 9-0 run that put UP within one with still 3:10 to go.

The two sides went on to exchange misses before Clarin nailed her fourth three-pointer of the quarter to give National U a 63-59 advantage.

The Lady Bulldogs improved to 10-0 ahead of their clash against defending champion University of Santo Tomas next Wednesday at the Mall of Asia Arena.

Ann Pingol also came through with 14 points, while Cielo Pagdulagan and Surada had 11 and 10 points, respectively.

The loss was a costly one for UP, which dropped to 3-8 and is now in danger of missing the Final 4. They are now hoping that Ateneo de Manila University will lose their remaining assignments, while they sweep theirs in order to force at least a playoff for the fourth spot in the semis.
