Filipina MMA fighter Denice Zamboanga. Handout/ONE ChampionshipMANILA -- Filipina MMA fighter Denice Zamboanga hopes to avoid any complications after finally getting a new date for her shot at the ONE Interim Atomweight MMA World Title.

"The Menace" will take on Alyona Rassohyna at ONE Fight Night 27 on January 11, 2025, with the showdown set to take place at the Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.  

Their match was originally scheduled for ONE Fight Night 25 in October, but Zamboanga was forced to withdraw after suffering a hamstring injury in training.

It marked the fourth time that Zamboanga's opportunity to fight for a world championship was dashed, but the Filipina insisted that she is not discouraged by the setbacks that led to where she is now.

"This fight is incredibly meaningful for me. It's been a roller coaster since I got the opportunity—from being offered a title shot against Angela [Lee] to the ups and downs of canceled fights, and even dealing with an injury," said Zamboanga.

A victory for Zamboanga will make her the first ever Filipina to win an MMA world title -- a distinction that she is determined to achieve.

"I'm ready and focused on making history. My goal is to become the first Filipina MMA fighter to bring home a championship belt, and I'm determined to make my country proud," she said.

Should she win, Zamboanga will also find herself on the collision course with Stamp Fairtex, who holds the ONE Atomweight MMA World Title but is currently recovering from an injury as well.

Zamboanga has long wanted to face off against her good friend but she makes it clear that her focus is on the Ukrainian Rassohyna.

"To my friend Stamp, wishing you a quick recovery! Once you're back, I can't wait for us to meet in the Circle," she said. "But for now, my focus is on this fight with Alyona and making the most of this chance."

The 27-year-old Zamboanga has an 11-2 MMA record, and will carry a three-fight winning streak into her showdown with Rassohyna. 

Her most recent win came against Noelle Grandjean in June.
