MANILA, Philippines – Five High Speed Hitters answered the call for PLDT in its first game in the 2024-25 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference.

Despite giving away third set, they emerged with the win against Nxled, 25-15, 25-17, 22-25, 25-22, on Tuesday at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.

Bannering the PLDT offense was Fil-Canadian Savi Davison, who had a team-high 19 points built mostly on attacks, while middle blocker Mika Reyes had 15 points, middle blocker Majoy Baron had 14 points on seven blocks, outside spiker Fiolla Ceballos delivered 13 points, and returning Dell Palomata chipped in 10 points.

"Siguro good start pa rin sa amin, considering na kakabalik lang din ni Savi tapos bagong salang si Angge. Happy naman sa performance, 'yun lang, sayang na di namin na-diretso, pero 'yun 'yung kailangan pa namin i-work on siguro," said coach Rald Ricafort during the postgame press conference.

In the third frame, PLDT tried to claw its way back from a 24-19 hole, scoring three unanswered points, but a through-the-block Chiara Permentilla kill ultimately shut down the High Speed Hitters, as Nxled got on board at 2-1.

Ricafort's wards returned to their ways, starting with a 15-6 run in the fourth canto to pull away in the match.

Permentilla tried keeping her team alive, saving two match points, 24-22, but Davison sent them packing with a crosscourt hit.

"I'm just excited to contribute the way I'm used to. I'm super grateful with how this whole process turned out with me being able to play so early," said Davison.

Permentilla was a silver lining for the Chameleons, tallying a triple-double of 21 points, 15 excellent receptions, and 10 excellent digs.

PLDT will battle Galeries on Tuesday, while Nxled aims for its first win versus ZUS Coffee at the same game date at Ynares Center in Antipolo.
