Photo from UAAP Images.</div>MANILA — Adamson University gave itself a huge boost as they continue to fight for a spot in the UAAP Season 87 men&#x27;s basketball Final Four.The Soaring Falcons managed to climb up to solo fifth in the team standings with a 5-7 record after they defeated and eliminated National University on Sunday, and this gave them a decent chance of still making the semi finals despite their midseason struggles.&quot;Important lang is buhay pa kami,&quot; said Adamson head coach Nash Racela after their 53-41 win over NU at the Araneta Coliseum.&quot;That&#x27;s something we have been telling the players. Before the game, we told them about the alignment of the stars. Pumoporma kami. Pero syempre, if we don&#x27;t do our part, then it will not happen.&quot; <div><a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/sports/2024/11/10/uaap-adamson-eliminates-nu-from-final-4-contention-1611">READ: Adamson eliminates NU from Final 4 contention</a></div>The Falcons lived up to this and indeed did their part against the lowly Bulldogs. Adamson limited NU to only seven points after the first 10 minutes of action, and this was also a result of AdU not underestimating the capabilities of the Bulldogs to live up to their billing and rediscover their form.&quot;We followed NU throughout the second round. We knew na siguro, if hindi nangyari yung nangyari sa import nila, then they could probably be number three now,&quot; said Racela of the Bulldogs who are competing without their foreign student-athlete Mo Diassana after he suffered an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury.&quot;So that&#x27;s how strong NU is. Nung second round, naglaro na sila kung sino talaga yung NU. The last two games that they had, against UP and UST, we watched them closely. Nakita namin na they really start very well. If you won&#x27;t be able to contain them, medyo magbabayad ka talaga. That&#x27;s why start pa lang ng game, that&#x27;s the warning we gave our players, about how strong and explosive NU is. So good enough that we were able to at least contain them from the start.&quot;&quot;That was the challenge we gave them before the game. It&#x27;s good that they were able to deliver,&quot; he added. Moving forward, Racela said that the mission for his troops now is to maintain this mindset regardless of the records of their next assignments.The Falcons will be facing the current fourth-placers University of Santo Tomas (6-7) and the already-eliminated Ateneo de Manila University (3-9), and for Racela, the key to getting wins over these teams will be similar to how they beat NU -- to not underestimate them. &quot;In this league, we never have the advantage. We&#x27;re always below everyone,&quot; Racela emphasized. &quot;We just find ways to climb over. So, same thing with UST. I know they struggled recently but they won yesterday so we&#x27;ll do our part again in preparation.&quot;As for their Final 4 aspirations, it is an entirely different challenge for his players, said Racela .&quot;Sometimes, pag nakita mo sila, it looks like they don&#x27;t understand,&quot; pointed out Racela. They don&#x27;t embrace it kaya minsan naiinis ako — paalala ako nang paalala —- every day paalala dahil parang wala silang pake.&quot; &quot;But, I think that&#x27;s how younger guys are now. Deep inside, they know and they care. So, from my end as a coach, I just don&#x27;t want to lack sa pag papaalala.
