The Tamaraws, meanwhile, fell to second place with six points after absorbing their first defeat of the season.</p><p>&quot;It&#x27;s a tough game,&quot; said Ateneo coach JP Merida. &quot;But also to get three points against FEU—it&#x27;s a different class talaga. We need to celebrate and accept that it’s so nice to receive these kinds of points.&quot;</p><p>FEU defender Khent Brian Valenzuela put the Tamaraws ahead with a header in the 42nd minute, and then missed a golden opportunity to double their lead in the second half.</p><p>They paid for it when Cariño leveled the match in the 53rd, and Fernandez came off the bench to score the match-winner in the 81st minute.</p><p>It was a testy affair, with Merida and FEU coach Roman Oliver exchanging words before the halftime break. The players also got entangled in the 84th minute before cooler heads prevailed.</p><p>Ateneo will look to build on the big win against UP on Thursday, while FEU will try to bounce back against De La Salle University on the same day.</p><p>Johnny Romualdez, former Philippine Football Federation president from 2004-2008, was in attendance for this match alongside newly-installed men’s national team head coach Albert Capellas and PFF National Teams Director Freddy Gonzalez.</p><div><br/></div><div></div><div></div>
