MANILA, Philippines – There is now another way to enjoy Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) action.

The MPBL announced its partnership with "strategic and analytical" gaming platform Daily Fantasy Tuesday at Fairmont Makati, aiming to "elevate the experience for loyal MPBL fans."

"We aim not only to provide our users with more ways to enjoy local sports but also to elevate the experience for loyal MPBL fans and add a deeper connection to the league," said Carlos Molina, the platform's marketing manager.

Fantasy games are not new, as these are already played across the globe featuring basketball leagues such as the NBA.

Daily Fantasy allows hoops fans "to create their own team," selecting players that could deliver the best performers in each match.

“This will significantly boost the MPBL's popularity as it brings the excitement of the game to fans nationwide and engage the sports enthusiasts who are also strategists,” Molina added.

The app, which is under the supervision of the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR), features options for free play using in-game currency called "rubies" or paid participation.

The MPBL 2024 season is currently in the playoffs, with San Juan, Caloocan, and Quezon already sitting in the best-of-three division semifinals.
