(UPDATE) The Philippines grooved its way to a 5-gold haul in dancesports, as the hosts continued to rack up one first-place finish after another in the 2019 Southeast Asian Games.

Those titles were courtesy of 6 dances in the standard category.

Mark Jayson Gayon and Mary Joy Renigen ruled waltz and foxtrot, Sean Mischa Aranar and Ana Leonila Manalo Nualla topped single dance Tango mixed and Viennese waltz.

Gayon and Renigen yielded the gold in quickstep to Vietnam, while Aranar and Nualla won the five-dance to secure a third gold medal -- the first triple winner in these SEA Games.

"Lahat ng panalo namin inaalay namin para sa bayan. Sobrang nakaka-overwhelm yung crowd," Nualla said.

"Nabawasan kami ng napakalaking pasanin. Pero sobrang saya. Di pa masyadong nagsisink in."

In Latin dance, Wilbert Aunzo and Pearl Cañeda became the second pair of dance-athletes to achieve a gold hat-trick, winning in samba, cha-cha and rumba.

Meanwhile, Michael Angelo Marquez and Stephanie Sabalo finished with a gold (paso doble) and silver (jive).
