MANILA, Philippines -- San Beda University continue to cruise in the NCAA Season 95 men's basketball tournament, this time pulling away from San Sebastian College, 91-76, on Tuesday at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

James Canlas put up 20 points on 7-of-10 shooting, along with 5 assists and 4 rebounds, while Donald Tankoua had 18 points and Calvin Oftana added 15 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 assists. Evan Nelle ably ran the San Beda offense, tallying 11 points and 7 assists as six Red Lions scored in double-digits.

The win gave San Beda a 13-0 win-loss record, putting them closer to clinching a spot in the Final 4 for the 14th straight year.

"I salute my players for this. We've been having problems in the first three games in the second round, but I'm really happy the way our players responded today," said San Beda coach Boyet Fernandez, whose squad has now won 27 straight games dating back to last season.

"They really showed what they're capable of, and I'm really happy that we won this game," he added.

Despite building a 17-point lead in the first half, the Red Lions could not take complete control of the game as big shots from RK Ilagan and Allyn Bulanadi put the Stags within striking distance, 51-43, at the half.

They still trailed by just nine points, 71-62, after three quarters, but the Stags could not put together enough stops to get closer.

Nelle orchestrated the Red Lions' breakaway in the fourth quarter, scoring 9 of his 11 points and dishing out three assists in the final nine minutes. His dime to Tankoua restored an 11-point lead, 83-72, with 5:28 left, and the defending champions were never threatened from there.

"As long as we play as a team, and we work as a team both in offense and defense, I think we have a good chance of getting some wins," said Fernandez.
