Although Yeng Guiao is happy to see his team equal its win total in each of the two previous conferences two games into the PBA Governor's Cup, the NLEX head coach doesn't want his players to get ahead of themselves and start thinking semifinals.

NLEX has racked up back-to-back wins over Alaska and Kia for a 2-0 win-loss record, tying their win total in the Philippine Cup and the Commissioner's Cup.

“We feel there is a transformation in the team,” said Guiao, who tweaked his lineup late in the Commissioner’s Cup with the acquisition of Alex Mallari, JR Quinahan and Larry Fonacier.

“We're getting good effort, balanced effort from everybody. We know that we're playing a lot better than the last two conferences.”

Guiao said his team will have to be content piling up victories for now before thinking well ahead into the future.

“If we can get a few more wins, I guess lalakas ang loob namin at mag-ambisyon na mag-semis. Sa ngayon kasi wala pa naman iyon. We play one game at a time,” he said.

“Kapag inambisyon namin agad iyon, baka akala ng mga tao nananaginip kami ng dilat.”

Guiao added his squad still has to fix some things, especially after its near collapse against Kia.

Despite leading by 24 at the half, NLEX needed to scramble in the final quarter when Kia mounted a full attack.

“We got ourselves mentally out of the game, one reason na sinasabi kong wala kaming karapatan pang mag-ambisyon is our weaknesses. We have to be consistently strong mentally,” Guiao said.
