The voting for the NBA's individual awards -- including the Most Valuable Player and Rookie of the Year -- will be completed ahead of the season's restart at the Walt Disney World at the end of the month.

The Associated Press reported that the seeding games will not be taken into account when voting for the individual awards, as only 22 of the league's 30 teams will compete in those games.

"The decision to exclude seeding games from awards voting ensures a fair process, in which players and coaches from all 30 teams will have the same opportunity to be honored as top performers for the regular season," the NBA said in a memo obtained by AP.

The season, which was halted in March due to the novel coronavirus pandemic, will restart on July 30 with teams playing eight seeding games ahead of the playoffs.

The league's decision was "not unexpected," according to AP.

Reigning MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks remains the favorite to repeat, after averaging 29.6 points and 13.7 rebounds while leading his team to the best record in the league.

Ja Morant of the Memphis Grizzlies is the frontrunner for Rookie of the Year honors, with No. 1 overall pick Zion Williamson of the New Orleans Pelicans trying to catch up to him.
