Point guard Shaun Livingston plans to play a 16th season in the NBA.

Livingston, 33, considered retirement earlier in the offseason but was released by the Golden State Warriors using the waive-and-stretch provision on Wednesday. Livingston is determined to continue playing.

Livingston's guarantee of $2 million can be spread over three seasons.

The former fourth overall selection in the 2004 NBA Draft by the Los Angeles Clippers has played the last five seasons with the Warriors. He averaged 4.0 points and 1.8 assists in 64 games this past season. He had similar numbers in 22 playoff games, scoring 4.0 points with 1.4 assists.

"Shaun was a huge part of three NBA championship teams with the Warriors, but his overall journey is what is most remarkable," Warriors co-chairman and CEO Joe Lacob said in a statement.

"He overcame incredible odds following a devastating injury, wore nine different NBA uniforms during his comeback, had a stint in the D-League and, fittingly, ended up being a major contributor on one of the best teams in NBA history.

"... We thank Shaun for his immense contributions, wish him well in his next chapter and look forward to honoring him at some point in the future."

Livingston, who missed all of 2007-08 and much of 2008-09 after a gruesome knee injury, has averaged 6.3 points with 3.0 assists in 833 career games (191 starts) with the Warriors, Clippers, Brooklyn Nets, Charlotte Hornets, Milwaukee Bucks, Cleveland Cavaliers, Washington Wizards, Oklahoma City Thunder and Miami Heat.
