Former world champion Nonito Donaire has decided to drop a few more pounds to fight as a bantamweight in the World Boxing Super Series later this year.

Donaire, who hasn't fought as a 118-pounder since 2011, made the decision following his loss to Carl Frampton in their interim featherweight title fight last April.

"I'm really looking forward to the tournament," Donaire said in an article posted on ESPN.com.

"Entering the tournament gives me an opportunity to showcase my capabilities against the best in this division.

"This division is stacked with talent and that's really exciting. I believe my size, experience and most of all my power will give me the edge over my opponents."

Donaire is a 4-division former world champion who has won titles in the flyweight, bantamweight, super bantamweight and featherweight classes.

The last time he fought as a bantamweight was when he successfully defended his crown against Omar Narvaez in October 2011.
