PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (UPDATED) -- Philippine representatives for the Valorant title claimed a bronze medal in the Southeast Asian Games, after conquering Vietnam, 2-0, in the third-place match held in Olympia Mall here Wednesday.

This is the second bronze medal for the country in esports and the first for the inaugural Valorant category in the biennial tilt.

Sibol Crossfire earlier won a bronze and representatives for Wild Rift nabbed gold for the Philippines.

The Philippines swept Vietnam in Ascent (13-5) and Haven (13-10) to get the bronze medal.

Sibol Valorant was the favored team to win the gold medal in the SEA Games after a massive 5-0 performance in the group stages.

However, rivals and fourth-seeded Indonesia swept them in an earlier playoff match Wednesday, 2-0.

Asked about the loss versus Indonesia, Coach Jose "Rbtx" Jamir said the team played "too passive."

"I think that's it. We just played too safe, we played too passive, and Indonesia punished us," Jamir said.

Reflecting on the loss, Valorant pro player Xavier "xavi8k" Juan said that the team was ready for the playoffs, but the squad "kept on making mistakes."

Moving forward, Jamir added that the SEA Games experience will help the players to be better after their first international LAN event.

In a later press conference posted on Sibol's Facebook page, Jamir acknowledged that consistency is key to winning at sporting events.

"We expect more talaga na kaya naming kunin 'yung gold. Kaya lang ang pinaka-challenge talaga was to be consistent, to play to the highest level. Siguro 'yon 'yung pinaka naging downfall namin."

The Philippines has one gold medal and two bronze medals in esports as of writing.
