MANILA, Philippines -- Former Ateneo de Manila University star Kiefer Ravena on Tuesday apologized to those affected by the photo scandal that he has been embroiled in for the past month.

A day after arriving from Singapore, where he made his Alab Pilipinas debut in a loss to the Slingers, Ravena faced a small group of reporters to publicly address, for the first time, the issue that hounded him.

"Gusto ko mag-apologize with what actually happened," said Ravena. "I'm very, very sorry sa nangyari, na sa pag-entertain ko, nauwi siya sa ganitong pangyayari."

Ravena specifically apologized to his parents, who helped him in filing a case in a Quezon City court following an entrapment operation that led to the arrest of a person of interest last week.

He also apologized to his siblings, admitting that he has failed in his task as a role model to them, as well as his relatives and friends.

And he apologized profusely to girlfriend Alyssa Valdez, whose name was repeatedly dragged in the conversation whenever the topic of Ravena's indiscretion came up on social media.

"Nagso-sorry ako lalo na kay Alyssa," said Ravena. "I have no excuse for what happened. I'm very, very sorry sa nangyari. Sa sobrang bait mong tao, hindi ka dapat nalalagay sa ganitong sitwasyon."

Ravena repeatedly apologized for "entertaining" another person in an explicit Viber conversation that unfortunately leaked on the Internet. But the former UAAP MVP still did not categorically confirm if it was indeed him in the scandalous photos.

"Siguro andoon ako sa point na kung umamin man ako o hindi, I think it won't affect whatever I say, 'di ba? Kung sinasabi nila na I'm trying to cover up things with what happened, siguro ano pang iko-cover ko? One month na ang pictures sa social media," he said.

"I guess, 'yun na lang 'yun, parang for me, people already made up kung ano man ang tingin nila sa what happened. Ako, I understand whatever judgment they made about me," he added.

When pressed, Ravena only stressed that he was sorry for the incident.

"Yeah, I entertained. I made a mistake, in doing so. I'm very sorry, I'm really sorry for what happened. It's something that I really regret doing," Ravena said.

"It messed a lot of people's lives, not just mine. Mas nahihiya ako sa mga naabala kong tao, more than anything else," he added.

With a case already filed in court, and with an ABL game still on the horizon, Ravena is hopeful that he has addressed the issue for the last time.

"Gusto ko na rin mag-focus sa basketball," he said.
