MANILA - University of the Philippines (UP) received some good news on Sunday after top hitter Isa Molde was cleared of any serious injury.

Molde had to be stretchered out in the second set of their UAAP Season 81 game against Ateneo de Manila University at the Mall of Asia Arena, after an awkward fall that saw her land on her left leg. She was eventually taken to get x-rays, and the Lady Maroons would lose in straight sets.

According to the official website of the UP Women's Volleyball Team, Molde "did not suffer any season-ending injury."

Their team physician cleared the fourth-year open hitter from any fractures in her left knee and ankle, and also did not suffer a high ankle sprain.

However, Molde will need therapy and rest, and will not play in their game against University of the East on Wednesday.

"It's nothing serious," UP coach Godfrey Okumu had assured on Saturday, after UP's loss. "What we don't know is how long she's gonna stay out."

"We have to go back to the drawing board and think of our next line-up for Wednesday," added Okumu, who is expected to give more minutes to veteran Marian Buitre in the wake of Molde's injury.

Molde, the Season 78 Rookie of the Year, is averaging 12.78 points per game for UP. The Lady Maroons have a 5-4 win-loss record in the women's volleyball tournament.
