San Juan Go for Gold survived a physical game with Pasay Voyagers to pull off a come-from-behind 75-74 victory in the MPBL Lakan Cup quarterfinals at FilOil Flying V Centre on Saturday.

In the other game, Pampanga-ADG Group of Companies stopped 1Bataan-Camaya Coast's fourth quarter rally to take a 71-64 win and likewise a 1-0 lead in their best-of-3 series.

Game Two of both series is at AUF Gym in Pampanga on Thursday.

After struggling to score early, John Wilson connected on a triple to break a 71-all deadlock for San Juan with 1:31 left in the game.

Jhonard Clarito bagged the game for good with a split from the charity line.

Pasay's Ronnel Lastimosa hit a buzzer-beating trey to peg the final score.

"Sinabi ko sa sarili ko darating at darating 'yun," Wilson said of his scoring. "Talagang nu'ng 1, 2, 3 quarters di ko makuha rhythm ko."

"Going (down) the stretch ko nakuha ang rhythm ko," he added.

Wilson, who only had a point in the first half, tallied 11 points on 3-of-11 shooting along with eight rebounds and three steals.

Michael Ayonayon led the Knights with 15 markers.

Axel Inigo scored 24 points for Pasay.

In the first game, Pampanga zoomed to a 17-0 start, with Mark Cruz, Levi Hernandez, and Reil Cervantes leading the charge.

The Giant Lanterns led by as many as 30 points, but the Risers, behind Reed Juntilla, responded with a 25-8 run to to pull to within 64-58 with 6:26 remaining.

But that's the closest the Risers could get as Hernandez and Cruz drained shots to quell the run.

“Nag-relax. Well, actually ’yung sinasabi ko na it can't happen. Buti na lang may puhunan kami. I'm still happy the way that we played,” Pampanga coach Bong Ramos said.

Hernandez tallied 18 points for the Giant Lanterns, while Cervantes chipped in 13 points, including 3 triples.

Ryan Batino led Bataan with 19 points and 10 rebounds.
