How many can say that they saw this coming?

True to his "Outta Nowhere" gimmick, WWE veteran Randy Orton outlasted 29 other men to emerge victorious in the 2017 WWE Royal Rumble, Sunday evening (Monday morning, Manila time) at the Alamo Dome in San Antonio, Texas.

The WWE's annual 30-man elimination match came down to an all-star final five consisting of Orton, The Undertaker, Chris Jericho, Bray Wyatt, and Roman Reigns, who came in at number 30 after coming short in his WWE Universal Championship match against Kevin Owens earlier that night.

Reigns then proceeded to eliminate The Undertaker, Chris Jericho, and Bray Wyatt, before eventually getting tossed out by Orton.

"The Viper" becomes only the seventh man in WWE history to win the Rumble match twice in his career, having won it back in 2009.

As a member of Smackdown! Live, Orton is expected to challenge newly-crowned WWE Champion John Cena at Wrestlemania.

It should be interesting how this storyline unfolds, given that Orton is currently aligned with Braw Wyatt.

Much of the buildup heading into the Rumble match was focused on the on-going rivalry between Brock Lesnar and Bill Goldberg. After essentially getting destroyed by Goldberg at Survivor Series, many expected Lesnar to gain a measure of revenge.

That wouldn't be the case however, as Goldberg would hit a spear on Lesnar right out the gate, before throwing him out moments later. If you're keeping tabs at home, that's the second straight PPV that Goldberg easily dispatched Lesnar. Expect "The Beast Incarnate" to retaliate in the coming weeks.

John Cena made history earlier in the night, defeating AJ Styles to regain the WWE Championship and tie Hall of Famer Ric Flair with 16 reigns as world champion. In another back-and-forth classic between the two, Cena finished the match off with his signature AA and finallly getting the better of Styles in one-on-one competition.

WWE Universal Champion Kevin Owens on the other hand was successful in his title defense against Roman Reigns in the first of the event's two world title matches.

While Owens' 'best friend' Chris Jericho was trapped inside a shark cage and suspended above the ring, Owens still managed to get some outside help in the form of Braun Strowman, who attacked Reigns in the middle of the no-disqualification match. Strowman put Reigns through tables, helping the champ capitalize and retain his Universal Championship.

In the opening match of the night, Charlotte Flair held on to her WWE Raw Women's Championship after defeating Bayley.

"The Queen" hit the challenger with Natural Selection on the ring apron before getting the pinfall and extending her PPV winning streak to 16-straight.
