MANILA, Philippines – Already highly motivated to regain the PBA Governors' Cup crown that they relinquished in 2018, the Barangay Ginebra Gin Kings have one more reason to go all out in the finals against Meralco.

One of their star players, Stanley Pringle, is competing in the finals for the first time in his PBA career – and the Gin Kings are determined to help him win his maiden championship.

"That was really our goal, to go to the finals and win the championship for Stanley. He's very excited, no doubt. He's very up to the challenge," said LA Tenorio, who has already won three titles with the Gin Kings.

"I think that's just another little motivating factor for the whole team, to try to get Stanley his first championship," said Ginebra coach Tim Cone, for his part.

Ginebra acquired Pringle in June from NorthPort, and the veteran guard has quickly shown his worth for the league's most popular team. In the Governors' Cup, Pringle averaged 16.9 points, second in the squad behind import Justin Brownlee.

Tenorio has no doubt that Pringle will make his mark in the finals, but he added that they are ready to give him the support he needs.

"Every time na he's doing things na hindi naman kailangan gawin na sobra na, we're here to support him and to remind him to relax a little bit and just do the game plan," said Tenorio.

"The good thing about Stanley is, even sa kalidad niya ngayon, you can say something about him, you can say something for him to improve," he added. "He's a good listener also."

Pringle has expressed his excitement for their upcoming series against the Bolts, and Tenorio knows his backcourt partner is "ready to go and get his first ring."

"That is gonna be special for us, the whole team, for me also, seeing Stanley getting that first championship," he said.

Cone, for his part, hopes this will just be the first of many for Pringle.

"You don't want to look too far ahead, but I hope there's more than just this one ahead for him," he said.
