There is no doubt that Angel Aquino is one of the greatest actresses in the industry, as she plays every role with the highest level of authenticity and commitment. Currently, she’s seen as Tanya in the Kapamilya primetime series “Senior High”.

One of her biggest strengths is her versatility which allows her to play pretty much any character in any genre. In “Senior High,” she’s the momma with an ‘astig’ exterior and complicated life, far different from her other recent portrayals, proving time and again that she can do it all.

Re-watch some of her best acting moments in the teleserye, so far, via this Kapamilya Toplist video.

Even though she’s not the most perfect and typical immaculate-looking mom out there, we can’t help but root for Tanya, thanks in part to how Angel paints her character. She’s mostly seen in conversations with Andrea Brillantes’ Sky and Luna, and we can all agree that Andrea’s acting style beautifully complements that of Angel, making for enthralling scenes.

One of those is her extremely organic exchange with Sky as the latter moves to the city after the death of Tanya’s mom, who acted as Sky’s guardian in the province. Tanya erupted in bitterness and frustration as she learned about her own mother’s disapproval of how she lives her life.

Angel’s performance in Luna’s death scene was nothing short of incredible, and moving, filled with intensity and truth. She stormed to Northford High upon hearing news about Luna’s alleged suicide.

The succeeding scene tugged at viewers’ heartstrings. Here, Tanya was fixing Luna’s things when she found a letter tucked underneath a folder. Her tears were a perfect blend of sadness and hurt. It wasn’t overly dramatic, but it was sincere, as if she was a real mom grieving her child’s death.

While Tanya is slowly trying to accept reality and move on, her other daughter, Sky, is looking into the possibility of foul play. Tanya snarled at Sky for entering such a dangerous territory dominated by the rich and influential. She wanted her to be silent rather than lock horns with the powerful people in Northford High. She would brush off anything Sky would try to warn her about.

With Tanya in Angel’s hands, the character appears pathetic and endearing at the same time. In one scene, she turned vulnerable in front of her boyfriend, Brandon (Kean Cipriano0, then transformed into a fighter when she picked up a call from Harry (Baron Geisler), who accused Sky of using drugs.

Let’s level up the thrill, shall we? In the next sequence, Tanya flaunted her dauntlessness to perfection, making a scene in Northford High as she encourages the other kids bullied by Z (Daniela Stranner) to speak up. She then issued a warning that nobody could stop her daughter, Sky, from finishing her studies at Northford High. They went inside Tanya’s old car. She laughed in between tears, showing what real catharsis feels like when the car’s engine started and didn’t fail as what usually happens. Angel can make the viewers laugh and cry with her through her powerful performance, proof of her amazing range as an actress.

The narrative is getting as intense as the ensemble cast's portrayal, so don’t miss an episode of “Senior High,” weeknights, on Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live, TV5, and A2Z.
