He may be one of the most popular and sought-after actors in the local entertainment scene at present, yet Paulo Avelino has managed to keep his personal life away from the spotlight, which includes his life as a son and a brother to his family.

Born Michael Paulo Lingbanan Avelino on May 13, 1988, in Baguio City, he is the second offspring of his parents, Roberto and Jennilyn Avelino. His mom worked as an accountant and hailed from Bontok, Mountain Province, while his father came from a prominent political clan in Calbayog, Samar. In fact, his paternal great-grandfather, Jose Avelino, was the Senate president during the regime of President Manuel Roxas and was proclaimed the “Father of Calbayog City.”

Growing up, Paulo’s interest didn’t veer towards politics, as he found himself more inclined toward film and acting. And the movie that first sparked his curiosity about film production was the 1989 American science fiction-comedy flick “Honey, I Shrunk The Kids” as it got him totally amused.

This enkindled his aspiration to become an actor, which came true when he was scouted by talent agents who were vacationing in Baguio City in the early 2000s. They gave him their calling cards and invited him to undergo VTR in Manila, which he did and eventually started doing commercials and print ads. He then joined a reality talent search at a media company in 2006, but failed to make it until the end.
This enkindled his aspiration to become an actor, which came true when he was scouted by talent agents who were vacationing in Baguio City in the early 2000s.
