Bustos and Ipo dams in Bulacan continued releasing water on Tuesday into the province’s downstream river system to prevent overspilling as tropical storm Enteng stirred more monsoon rains.

As of 6 a.m., Ipo Dam was releasing 33.20 cubic meters per second of water, while Bustos Dam released 130 cubic meters per second, according to the Bulacan Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office.

The release from the dams, combined with the high tide, elevated the water levels in several towns and cities in the province.

FLOODING

Floodwaters continued to sweep through Dulo Taliptip in Bulakan town, and several roads remained impassable for light vehicles.

Other towns that reported flooding on Tuesday morning include Angat, Balagtas, Baliuag, Bocaue, and Calumpit, according to the disaster office.

Residents of Brgy. Meysulao in Calumpit town used boats due to the high flood levels.

About 20 families remained at the evacuation center.

Santa Maria town, meanwhile, monitored its river after it spilled on Monday, prompting massive flooding and the evacuation of over a hundred individuals in the nearby residential area.

As of Tuesday morning, the water level in the river has normalized, and evacuees have returned to their homes.
