MANILA (UPDATE) — Some local government units (LGUs) have decided to suspend classes on Wednesday, September 18, due to the effects of tropical depression Gener.

Classes at all levels in the following areas have been suspended:

Antique

  • - Anini-y (face-to-face classes only; public at private)
  • - Barbaza (face-to-face classes only; public at private)
  • - Belison (public at private)
  • - Culasi (face-to-face classes only; public at private)
  • - Pandan (face-to-face classes only; public at private)
  • - Sebaste (face-to-face classes only; public at private)

Iloilo

  • - Oton (public at private)

Negros Occidental

  • - Cauayan (face-to-face classes only; public at private)
  • - Isabela (public at private)
  • - La Carlota (public at private)
  • - Sipalay (public at private)
  • - Talisay (public at private)
  • - Sagay (public at private)

Palawan

  • - Quezon (public at private)
  • - Busuanga

Pangasinan

  • - Manaoag (public at private)
  • - Mangaldan (public at private)
  • - Mapandan (face-to-face classes only; public at private)
  • - Rosales (public at private)

Occidental Mindoro

  • - Magsaysay (public at private)
  • - Rizal

Bais, Negros Oriental (public at private)

Classes from pre-school to senior high school are also suspended in the following areas:

Bacolod City (face-to-face classes only; public at private)

Dagupan City (localized suspension of classes; affected areas only)

Iloilo City (face-to-face classes only; public at private)

Tropical depression Gener and tropical storm Helen are supercharging the southwest monsoon or habagat, which is forecast to bring moderate to intense rainfall over many areas across the Philippines until Friday, PAGASA said.
